My Money Plant Speaks

How else can I describe the rush of joy I feel when it greets me in the evenings.I return from work and tiredly climb up the flight of  stairs and there it is! Creating happy ripples among itself and dancing in the breeze-
even when no wind is evident to me.

In direct contrast to some people who don't even bother to smile on seeing you.I'm not talking of those days when they might have been in deep thought about any matter. I'm talking of characteristic behaviour -where no smile means they don't need your help in any way right now.

I remember how the plant came to us-a  tiny-skinny plant in a tiny-winy pot all the way from Chennai.I didn't think it'd survive the change. And then it started adapting-to us, our ways and our 'treatment'.

What else can you expect of a family living upstairs? The only place we could allot for it was right under    the coconut tree- where ripe  coconuts  fall every now and then causing great commotion. We were sure that some coconut or the other would dive into it, shatter the pot into pieces and scatter the mud all over the place.Or that it might fall a victim to some cat or dog of ours who loved to play in wet mud.
But,"Bloom where you are planted," seemed to be it's motto. It spread out it's leaves fearlessly and kept pointing to the skies.

One look at it and you can feel your face muscles lift and you get its message-"Live and let live or in Tamil,'வாழ்க வளமுடன்
